Statement of Faith

What We Believe

WE BELIEVE that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, governs all; we believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice; we believe in God the Father, and infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all that come to Him through Jesus Christ. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit; in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and His personal, visible return to earth. We believe in the Holy Spirit, who was sent from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; we believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ, that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide; we believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that all men are sinners by nature and choice and therefore, under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit for power and service, often subsequent to regeneration.

WE BELIEVE in the universal Church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head, and all regenerated persons are members; we believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, committed two Ordinances to the Church: 1) baptism and, 2) the Lord’s Supper; we believe in baptism by immersion and communion open to all believers

WE BELIEVE in, and await, the pre-tribulation rapture of the Church; that the second coming of Christ, with His saints, after the seven year tribulation period to establish His kingdom on the earth, will be personal and visible.

WE BELIEVE in the Divine inspiration and eternal inerrancy of Scripture. The Bible clearly states that all Scripture was given by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, and contains all that men need for life and Godliness. As such, we believe that the Bible is the final authority on all issues of life, and that church tradition can never supersede the Word.

At any given time, certain issues become controversial in the Church. OneWay feels it necessary to state our beliefs of these current issues:

WE BELIEVE that God has reserved all sexual intimacy only for, and between, men and women (exclusively), and that activity is confined exclusively to a Biblical marriage relationship of husband and wife (man and woman). Therefore, we reject any teaching, law, or cultural attitude that promotes, accepts, or requires to promote, accept or teach, that sexual intimacy outside of the Biblically stated marriage relationship of husband and wife, is acceptable. We also reject the teaching that considers homosexuality and lesbianism as a valid acceptable biblical lifestyle.

IN OUR SERVICES we focus on a personal relationship with God through worship and prayer, and the teaching of the Word of God. We teach both expository and topical studies. We do not allow speaking loudly in tongues or the interruption of our services with prophecy, if there is a Bible study in progress. It is not that we do not hold to the using of these gifts, but we believe that everything should be done decently and in order. We believe that God will not interrupt Himself.

CONCERNING EVANGELISM, we believe strongly in community outreach (prison ministry, street evangelism, nursing home visitation, hospital ministry, foreign missions, etc.); but we also believe concerning evangelism, that spiritually healthy church members will promote the cause of Christ. If we continue to feed the flock of God and keep a fire of encouragement under them, they will in turn be submitted to God and have the burden to lead people to Christ.
